NCAA Basketball: 8 teams that should target Boston College transfer Wynston Tabbs
Kansas Jayhawks
This may seem like a stretch but the Jayhawks are in a tough situation due to the ongoing investigation into alleged recruiting violations. They’ve already missed out on several key 2021 guard prospects such as Tamar Bates and Kendall Brown and are likely to lose out on five-star Hunter Sallis. And with Marcus Garrett likely gone and former five-star recruit Bryce Thompson needing more development than expected, Kansas backcourt for next year looks very shaky.
If top-tier freshmen aren’t coming right now, they’ll have to look at the transfer portal. And right now, Tabbs is the best option they’ll get right now before the offseason, which could have a ruling against them in terms of a possible postseason ban. He’s proven he can produce at a power conference level and as long as he can play defense, Tabbs would be a rotational piece on a traditional juggernaut.
Marquette Golden Eagles
It’s been a struggle for Marquette, currently under .500 in both the Big East and overall for the season. While Ohio State transfer DJ Carton is tied for the team-lead with 12.6 ppg, he hasn’t had the impact the team needed to replace the massive production from former All-American Markus Howard.
And with senior guard Koby McEwen likely gone and possible Carton too, the Golden Eagles could be left without any perimeter production aside from Greg Elliot. Tabbs would come in and be the shooting guard the Golden Eagles badly need and could play alongside Carton to make for an effective backcourt. And by then, the young frontcourt should grow into a more consistent unit, led by Dawson Garcia and Justin Lewis.
