NCAA Basketball: 8 teams that should target Boston College transfer Wynston Tabbs
Wichita State Shockers
Whether interim head coach Isaac Brown gets the full-time nod or someone else, they’ll be behind the eight-ball a bit in terms of the 2021 recruiting class, currently without any commitments. They’ll likely have to look into the transfer portal to find some top-tier talent, particularly with senior Alterique Gilbert likely moving on and star guard Tyson Etienne looking like an NBA Draft prospect.
What would help the Shockers is taking the interim tag off of Brown so that he can fully recruit. But Wichita State would have plenty to offer Tabbs if he possibly ended up with them. The team would be stacked with upperclassmen and ready to compete in the AAC next year.
VCU Rams
The Rams have been the top team in the Atlantic 10 this season, thanks to star sophomore guard Nah’Shon Hyland. He’s putting up a team-leading 19.4 ppg and has NBA Draft potential. The guard could very well leave after this season, leaving 6’6 guard Vince Williams and freshman point guard and leading “Ace” Baldwin as the key returning guards.
Adding Tabbs at the two-spot would be an ideal replacement, even if he isn’t as prolific a scorer as Hyland. And with the program being another local option, this could also be a nice alternative in case Hyland does go pro. If the Atlantic 10 isn’t too much of a drop compared to the ACC in the player’s eyes, this is an under-the-radar team to consider if the recruitment takes a while.
