The Gonzaga Bulldogs look to avoid a historic upset in the WCC against the San Diego Toreros. Is there any chance of anything other than a blowout?

TV schedule: Saturday, February 20, 8:00 pm ET. ESPN2

Arena: McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, Washington

The 21-0 (12-0) Gonzaga Bulldogs are coming off a comfortable win against Saint Mary’s (87-65) where they were up by 38 points during the 2nd half. Corey Kispert led the team with 20 points. There were three other Bulldogs in double figures, The Zags defense was once again really good as well forcing Saint Mary’s into 19 turnovers.

The Bulldogs are not only led by Kispert but Jalen Suggs and Drew Timme make up their three-headed monster. Suggs the likely top 5 pick in the 2021 NBA draft, Timme one of the best post scorers in the Country. Joel Ayayi has had a great year for them as well. The 4th year Jr is an amazing guard for a rebounder at 7.1 rebounds per game but just does a solid job at everything on the court.

This Gonzaga team is not only the number 1 team in the country but the number 1 team on Kenpom. They are one of the best teams in the history of the website’s database. The Zags also lead the country in 2-point and effective field goal percentage.

The San Diego Toreros are (3-7) overall and (2-4) in the league. In their last game, they beat Santa Clara (71-60). Joey Calcaterra led the Toreros in scoring with 23 points.

The Toreros has had kinda a weird year with several Covid-19 pauses San Diego has only played 10 games this season going into their matchup against Gonzaga. Outside of Calcaterra, the only other scorer double-digit scorer for them is Josh Parrish (10.7) points per game.

San Diego does a pretty good job keeping other teams off the offensive class ranking 54th in of defensive offensive rebounding percentage. They are also gonna try to slow the game down ranking 96th in Tempo.

Next. 5 teams you don't want to play in March. dark

Gonzaga is really good and has the athleticism and talent advantage. San Diego is a well-coached team and is gonna try to slow the game down but the Zags should run away with this.

Prediction: Gonzaga 91, San Diego 63
