In NCAA Basketball there are stars this year such as Jalen Suggs and Jared Butler. When you get to the NCAA Tournament you are going to need other players to step up. I decided to write his article because I wanted to point out the guys who people should talk about more as we get closer to March.

Gonzaga Bulldogs – Andrew Nembhard

Gonzaga’s (21-0) been great all year, they are the undefeated number 1 team in the country. Gonzaga is also the number 1 team in Kenpom and is having one of the greatest seasons in Kenpom’s database.

But a player that needs to be talked about more for the Zags is Andrew Nembhard. The transfer from Florida who originally was supposed to sit out this season is currently averaging 9.2 points and 4.5 assists per game with only 1.2 turnovers a game. According to Hoop-Math Nehbhard is also shooting an impressive 48.7% on two-point jump shots. Having another point guard alongside Jalen Suggs is super important for the Zags.

When Suggs went down with an injury against West Virginia Nembhard was the player to step up. Nemhards ability to pass out of pick and rolls, push the ball in transition and get to his mid-range pull-up makes him such a dangerous player. His ability to handle the ball helps the Zags play at such a high tempo.

Gonzaga started Nembhard off the bench but in the last three games, he’s been in the starting lineup. Without Nembhard able to play, Gonzaga probably wouldn’t of beat West Virginia, and celling wouldn’t be as high as one of the best teams in recent memory.
