Baylor Bears – Matthew Mayer

Baylor (17-0) the number two team in the country and number 2 in Kenpom is currently on a pause due to Covid-19 protocol. This Baylor team is up there with Gonzaga as one of the best college basketball teams in recent memory and has an excellent shot to go undefeated.

The Bears probably the best backcourt in college basketball with Butler averaging (17.0) points per game along with (5.2)  assist, Davion Mitchell (13.6) points per game with 5.8 assists, MaCio Teague (14.7)points to go with 3.9 rebounds, and Adam Flager who scores 10.2 points a game.

Baylor also has soild bigs as well, Mark Vital is a super interesting player who is also a very tough and good defender. Johnathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua is a very good rebounder averaging 6.4 boards in only 20.5 minutes.

But, a player that people should be talking more for the Bears is Matthew Mayer. Mayer is averaging 8.3 points per game and 3.8 rebounds but Mayer is shooting an impressive 51.5 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from three. At 6’9 Mayer has guard skills but is long and with his height can also defend bigger players. He can shoot from three and put it on the deck. He’s a pretty solid athlete to he’s also a quality defender. Mayer is 2nd on the team in box plus-minus and defensive plus box minus.

Baylor just like Gonzaga is stacked and clearly above everyone else is college basketball. Whenever Mayer is in the game good things happen for Baylor. He’s a really interesting player that really helps Baylor win and needs to be talked about more.
