Bracketology 2021: Duke, Kansas, and Florida State among big winners

West Virginia
There are some incredible teams in the Big 12 even if you ignore Baylor, as we all have seen the great things that the undefeated squad has accomplished. The conference has a number of ranked squads who compete in every game and each of which will make an impact in the NCAA Tournament. That being said, someone has to stand out as they continue to beat each other up.
This week, West Virginia was one of those teams that stuck out. They’ve been playing a bevy of talented teams lately and won another big game, this time prevailing after a huge comeback at #12 Texas. The Mountaineers shot the ball well, getting 17 points from Miles McBride and at least 14 points from four other players. Their play was resilient in coming back from the second-half deficit.
West Virginia has found themselves at 15-6, with a very solid 8-4 mark in the Big 12. Their last four games have been against ranked foes and they’ve won three of them. They entered Saturday at 17 in the NET rankings and that should improve with the big win at Texas. There are no bad losses on the Mountaineers’ resume and quite a number of nice wins.
If the game gets played, their last big chance to prove themselves will be against Baylor. It seems well-deserved after the gauntlet they’ve run in recent weeks. All of these top-tier Big 12 teams deserve solid seeding and it’s a shame to see them beat each other up these past few months. Nevertheless, West Virginia is ensuring its place near the top of the seedlines.
