8. Georgetown Hoyas (7-10, 5-7 Big East)

After an extremely rough start to the season which included a loss to mid-major Navy and a five-game losing streak, Georgetown has started to turn things around after going on pause in January.

The Hoyas are 4-2 during their last five games after their pause, which resulted in upset victories over Providence, on the road at Creighton, and this past Saturday against Seton Hall.

The area where Georgetown has thrived in this season is rebounding, which the Hoyas are currently ninth nationally averaging 29.2 defensive rebounds per game and eighth nationally with 41 rebounds per game.

Georgetown used the boards to their advantage during their last game on February 13th against Butler when they outrebounded the Bulldogs 38-20. All five starters for Georgetown tallied at least six rebounds. Despite 23 total turnovers, Georgetown was able to convincingly win against Butler 78-63.

In Georgetown’s upset victory on the road over Creighton on February 3rd, the Hoyas got hot making 10 three-point shots. However, less than a week later on February 9th at home against Creighton, the Hoyas were stopped and were held to a season-low 48 points.

Georgetown hurt Providence’s NCAA Tournament hopes when the Friars were still on the bubble in late-January. The Hoyas were able to spoil the Seton Hall’s NCAA Tournament chances with the Hoyas 81-75 victory on Saturday.

Georgetown has four games remaining before the Big East Conference Tournament. Three of those games are against teams who are currently on the bubble.

Next up for Georgetown is a home matchup against UConn on Tuesday. Georgetown will then travel to DePaul on Saturday before hosting Xavier on Tuesday, March 2nd. The Hoyas will close out their conference schedule with a road game at UConn on Saturday, March 6th.
