Bracketology 2021: Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Louisville among big winners

Georgia Tech
We can waste time talking about how it’s a down year for the ACC; we’ll talk plenty about that on the next slides. Instead, let’s wrap our heads around the possibility that Josh Pastner and Georgia Tech are knocking on the doorstep of the NCAA Tournament, something that seemed improbable before the season started.
Georgia Tech picked up two more big wins this week, with none bigger than what they pulled off on Tuesday. They went on the road and knocked off #16 Virginia Tech by 16 points, getting a 26-point, 10-rebound effort from Moses Wright. On Saturday, the Yellow Jackets took care of business at home, knocking off a Syracuse team that is also firmly on the bubble in a 7-point win.
Georgia Tech is now 13-8, with that solid 9-6 mark in ACC play. This week, they picked up their fourth win over a top 25 team and are slowly rising in the relevant rankings, with their NET now in the top 40. They’ve won four straight games and are playing really good basketball right now. It’s been months since this same Yellow Jackets squad dropping home games to Georgia State and Mercer, even if that will play against them with the Selection Committee.
The Yellow Jackets have knocked off Florida State, North Carolina, and Kentucky and will this week get their second shot at Duke. The resume could use the boost of knocking off the Blue Devils, even if that win doesn’t mean as much as it normally would. Still, it’s hard to deny that Georgia Tech is playing like one of the best ACC teams in recent weeks and is slowly earning its way into March Madness.
