Baylor Suffers First Loss

Baylor’s undefeated season is no more after the #2 Bears suffered their first loss of the season on the road against #17 Kansas.

This was Baylor’s second game since the program shutdown, and the Bears never quite looked themselves during this performance. Shooting 34.8% from the field, this was easily Baylor’s worst performance of the season, and also a game in which they only got 5 points from star guard Jared Butler.

Meanwhile, this was a massive win for the Kansas Jayhawks. After suffering a 75-72 road loss to #14 Texas that snapped the Jayhawks’ five-game winning streak, Kansas looked like the better team from start to finish on Saturday night, and this win puts Kansas into a two-way tie for second in the Big 12.

With this Baylor loss, #1 Gonzaga remains the lone unbeaten team in college basketball. While losses like this are always common in college basketball, it will be important for Baylor to bounce back as they will face three very good teams in the next week, and to avoid a potential slump going into postseason play.
