Big 12 Basketball: Did Kansas upset over Baylor shake the power rankings?

After a three-week layoff, the Bears returned to action on Tuesday and got every bit out of Iowa State. It was clear the rust was on Baylor, as they trailed by as much as 16 in the first half. However, a much-improved effort shooting the ball and better perimeter defense was enough for the Bears.

Even with the lapses on defense and early struggles on offense, Baylor was able to get some great production. Adam Flagler led the team with 22 off the bench, shooting 7-15 from the field. Butler finished with 18 points, while Teague had 14.

A rotation piece in Johnathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua was inactive for the game against Iowa State.

The Bears had a rare bad shooting night, with shooting 32% from beyond the arc and 43.5% from the field, both well below average.

However, the Bears were not able to overcome a second straight poor shooting performance. Baylor was in hope of clinching the Big 12 Championship on Saturday in Lawrence. However, the Bears dropped their first game of the season to Kansas.

Despite turning the ball over just three times, the Bears lost in just about every other category. The splits of 34/23/36 are not nearly enough to win in Allen Fieldhouse. Jared Butler shot 2-9 from the floor and the leading scorer at halftime with nine was Flo Thamba.

MaCio Teague led the way scoring for Baylor with 18 points on 3-8 from beyond the arc.

The Bears finish the season in a gauntlet with three games in six days. They need to win one to clinch the Big 12 Championship.
