There were four winners on Friday in the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament. Two of those teams were the Saint Louis Billikens and the St. Bonaventure Bonnies.
TV Schedule: March 6th, 6:00 pm ET. CBSSN
Arena: Siegel Center in Richmond, VA
The St. Bonaventure Bonnies and Saint Louis Billikens will faceoff in the semifinal round of the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament. This game will be a rematch of the Atlantic 10 Championship game in 2019. The Billikens pulled out the 55-53 upset over a talented Bonnies’ team from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
The Bonnies (14-4, 11-4) have locked up the No.1 seed in the tournament. Dominick Welch and Osun Osunniyi led the scoring as they had 18 points apiece in their recent win over Duquesne. Osunniyi added 14 rebounds and six assists in his monstrous performance. Kyle Lofton was also impressive with 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Lofton led the team in points, assists, and steals this past season.
The Bonnies’ success has come from their deep team consisting of several elite scorers. Although the Bonnies finished the best in the conference, several teams played fewer games than others due to positive cases within the program.
The Saint Louis Billikens (14-5, 6-4) played ten conference games while the Bonnies played fifteen this past season. The Billikens were projected to finish second this season but, finished fourth in the standings.
In their most recent game, the Billikens topped UMass to advance to the semifinal round. Javonte Perkins had 25 points, and Jordan Goodwin had 18 points and 14 rebounds. Hasahn French was also impressive with eight points and 11 rebounds in the victory.
These two teams should match up pretty well against each other, however, I believe Saint Louis will pull out the win. I believe the senior leadership on this team consisting of Jordan Goodwin and Hasahn French is too good to stop. I believe the well-minding coaching by Travis Ford and his staff will allow Saint Louis to become an immediate contender and potentially win the entire tournament.
