Texas was able to get 17 points off the bench from Kai Jones in their 14-point win over Iowa State on Tuesday. While Baylor/WVU and Illinois/Michigan dominated the headlines, the Longhorns quietly got a solid win over the Cyclones.

Iowa State has played significantly better as of late and was suffocated in some areas by Texas. The Longhorns had six players score nine or more, including nine from senior Jase Febres. The Horns shot an efficient 45% from beyond the arc and 51% from the field.

Febres would once again be an impact off the bench, as his season-high 11 points would help lift Texas over Oklahoma. His combined 20 points over the last two games match the same amount of points he’s had in conference play alone.

He is becoming a nice piece off the bench and is contributing to big wins for Texas. As mentioned in the Oklahoma section, Sims was a huge difference-maker down low. He dominated down low, finishing with 16 points and 12 rebounds, as well as, two blocks.

It was Matt Coleman III, that hit the clutch bucket, something that has been the positive contagious from the Longhorns this season. It would give enough room for Texas to win the basketball Red River Rivalry.

It’s starting to become a stable for Coleman as he pulled this off just one year ago in Norman.

Once again on Thursday, he put the game on ice for Texas.

With battling for seeding, Texas had a chance to climb in the seed for the Big 12 Tournament for their season finale in Fort Worth.
