Bracketology

San Diego State is the only team right now that is comfortably in the field heading into the Mountain West Tournament. The Aztecs still want to continue to improve on their seeding, and hopefully take back a conference championship trophy with them home.

Bubble Watch: Boise State, Colorado State, Utah State

Boise State, Colorado State, and Utah State will have to sweat out Selection Sunday to see if they are going to be getting into the big dance, or if their bubble will burst.

Depending on which bracketology experts you read and listen to right now multiple of them have Boise State, and Colorado State as being part of the last four in the field. A lot of that can change within the next week.

Boise State had a crushing loss this past week to Fresno State who currently is sitting at 11-10 overall. It hurts because you never want to have a quadrant 4 loss on your resume. Before this loss, they were pretty comfortable in the field, but that loss really hurt.

Colorado State had a rough loss to Nevada with 0.8 seconds left on Friday night when Grant Sherfield hit a 3 pointer to win 85-82 in Reno. It’s not a terrible loss, but still a win that the Rams wanted to add to their resume.

Utah State of the three teams in the Mountain West currently on the bubble has the most work to do, but I do think they have the firepower to win the whole Mountain West Tournament. The Aggies do own two wins over San Diego State University but will need some key wins this upcoming weekend in the conference tournament.
