When you’re Indiana, why not shoot for the stars? Reach out to the candidates you know will say no but do your due diligence. It’s probably smart to just wrap up with those four candidates or to have included another fifth viable candidate, but why not take a gander at Stevens?

Most know what he did at the college level before taking the Boston Celtics job in 2013. The fact that Stevens led that Butler team to not one but two national championship games remains one of the most incredible feats in the history of the NCAA Tournament. The Indiana native would be returning to his roots, but would he really leave the NBA to take this job?

If we’re throwing in Stevens, you might as well include names like Billy Donovan of the Chicago Bulls as well, someone else who’s likely not leaving the NBA for this position. Realistically, Stevens isn’t leaving the NBA for a challenge like Indiana, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Nobody expected him to take the Celtics job eight seasons ago. Can he really surprise us again?
