64. Zach Spiker (Drexel)

0 NCAA Tournaments

Now in his twelfth season as a head coach, Spiker is leading his first team to the NCAA Tournament. His Dragons made an unexpected run to the CAA Tournament title after finishing in sixth place during the regular season. This was just his third season above .500 as a head coach, but he’s clearly been building something at Drexel these last few seasons. There’s plenty of work ahead for Spiker, but his team can enjoy the glory of this year’s Tournament appearance.

63. John Gallagher (Hartford)

0 NCAA Tournaments

In a league recently dominated by Vermont, it’s taken until Gallagher’s eleventh season to lead Hartford to the NCAA Tournament but it was worth the wait. The longtime coach leads the Hawks to their first NCAA Tournament after a long process with this school, making this program relevant in the America East. Winning their first America East Tournament is a great success, while Gallagher continues to lead his Hawks to top 4 finishes in the league.

62. Dustin Kerns (Appalachian State)

0 NCAA Tournaments

Kerns is only just getting his coaching career started in all reality but he’s already accomplished a fair bit. He played a big role in building Wofford into a great mid-major as an assistant before leading Presbyterian to a 20-win season in his first head coaching job. He’s spent just two seasons with the Mountaineers but is already leading Appalachian State to their first NCAA Tournament in 21 years. Kerns is becoming a rising star in coaching circles with these quick turnarounds though there’s still plenty of work ahead.

61. Joe Pasternack (UC Santa Barbara)

0 NCAA Tournaments

Pasternack has finally gotten his moment, leading UC Santa Barbara to the NCAA Tournament for the first trip of his coaching career. The former New Orleans head coach has won no fewer than 21 games in each of his first four years with the Gauchos, winning this year’s Big West regular season and tournament championships. The former longtime Sean Miller aide at Arizona has a bright future ahead of him and this is just the first step.
