NCAA Tournament 2021: Buy or sell Gonzaga, Baylor, Illinois and Michigan?
By Adam Childs
The March Madness NCAA tournament starts this weekend in Indianapolis with Gonzaga, Baylor, Illinois, and Michigan as the number one seeds. It’s a fitting set of teams for the way the season played out. The Zags are undefeated, Baylor played in a very good Big 12, and Illinois and Michigan were at the top of possibly the best conference in college basketball.
In a year where it was anything but normal, these four teams showed that they were the best. They all won regular season or tournament titles and did so in dominant fashion for most of the year. But we still know they aren’t all created equal.
Would it be a surprise if all four of them made it to the Final Four? No, it wouldn’t but we know it is a rarity for all of them to make their way through the gauntlet. Without the travel of a normal tournament, it may change things up.
Teams will have the comfort of being in the same place throughout the whole tournament and could change how things play out. The Big Ten teams have been here for a week already and that familiarity could help.
How these teams got here was about the same but to get to the Final Four they will all take different paths, but how likely is each team to make a run? We take a look at if you should buy or sell the number one seeds in this tournament.
