NCAA Basketball: Analyzing final 4 options for FIU transfer Antonio Daye Jr.
Arkansas Razorbacks
Of course the Razorbacks are in contention for a top transfer. It helps that the current roster is filled with previous successful transfers, including leading passer and former Northern Kentucky guard Jalen Tate. He’s a senior and star freshman Moses Moody is likely gone, so it makes sense why they’ll be in the market for another guard.
Daye’s defensive skills would be helpful in the SEC and he could play alongside current freshman guard Davonte Davis or could come off the bench next season like Desi Sills is doing. Arkansas is an upper-tier SEC program that can infuse any kind of transfer, making it more likely that Daye would succeed here than elsewhere.
Clemson Tigers
Looking at the roster, it’s obvious that the Tigers will miss departing senior and All-ACC forward Aamir Simms this offseason. But they’ll also have to deal with finding a replacement for Clyde Trapp, one of the best defenders on the team and a senior leader.
There aren’t any double-digit perimeter players on the team, so Daye would have the opportunity to be a leading force on the offensive gameplan while being a natural fit for the defensive scheme. And even without Simms, Clemson will still remain in contention for the NCAA Tournament, with only Arkansas among this group being able to say the same.
