Next year’s roster is already shaping up

Several Kentucky players have already spoken up about their plans for next year (i.e. stay, transfer, declare for draft). Three players have announced their return (Devin Askew, Dontaie Allen, Lance Ware) and one player (Cam’Ron Fletcher) has opted to transfer. Several players will likely enter the NBA draft, although it’s no certainty that any of them keep their names in the draft.

Kentucky has fewer recruiting commitments this year than in previous seasons. If the 2022 season were to start today, the Wildcats would have three freshmen. All three, however, are top 30 recruits. Kentucky has also added transfer Oscar Tshiebwe from West Virginia.

Tshiebwe was previously a UK target during his high school career. He is a double-double threat and an elite defender. Tshiebwe will have two years of eligibility at UK.

Kentucky just had its worst season in a century and fans will not forget this. That said, if enough players return and the recruits are as good as advertised, the 2020-21 season will feel like decades ago.
