Porter Moser

We’re not going to beat around the bush too much on this one. Moser is the home run hire for basically any power conference team that has an opening, but much like Brad Stevens or Shaka Smart back in the day, it’s not going to be any old job that lures him away from his kingdom.

A native of Chicago, Moser has risen to fame for leading Loyola-Chicago to the Final Four in 2018. The former Creighton player was briefly an assistant at nearby Milwaukee and also had uneventful stints as head coach at Little Rock and Illinois State. This year’s Loyola team has already pulled off another NCAA Tournament win and he’s certainly built the best team in the MVC.

Would Moser leave Loyola just to move a couple of hours north to Milwaukee? It’s certainly possible that a Big East job like the Golden Eagles would be attractive to him, but there’s no guarantee he’d be interested. If he was, he’d absolutely have to be the first name Marquette reaches out to, though it’ll be hard to pry him away from the Ramblers.

He’s already won five NCAA Tournament games in the last four seasons; if he did that with Marquette it would be a certain success given the current state of the program. But will he even want to leave Loyola?

We’ve finished our close look at five candidates to take over the Marquette head coaching job; who do you think will wind up leading the Golden Eagles for the future?
