Matthew Mayer plays big role in Baylor Basketball’s win over Wisconsin

2. Bears get a plethora of players in the mix
Baylor got eight players in the scoring column, lead off the bench by Matthew Mayer. Part of Baylor’s struggles Post-COVID has been poor play off of the bench. That has not been an issue over the past two games.
Adam Flagler had 12 points in their win over Hartford. On Sunday, it was Mayer that led the way, with 17 points on 5-12 from the field.
Standing at 6’9, he shoots over 40% from beyond the arc and can get to the rim and score, at an efficient rate. Mayer showing off his insane athleticism and scoring is not new. Mayer can elevate and make impressive dunks.
With Flagler’s spot-up shooting success, Tchatchoua’s athleticism and rebounding, alongside Mayer’s versatility makes Baylor’s bench one of the best.
Any game in which one of those three plays at a high rate offensively, they are nearly impossible to stop. In the two games, Baylor has lost, the bench has played poorly. If any of those three play at a high level, Baylor’s run at a national championship is much more realistic.
