2. Baylor Bears

It has been the Baylor and Gonzaga show all year long and right now they haven’t given us any reason to think otherwise. The Bears easily dispatched Hartford in the first round, before having little trouble with Wisconsin in the second round.

They have shown some signs of weakness in their losses to Oklahoma State and Kansas late in the year but you will be hardpressed to find a team more complete than Baylor.

COVID pauses have been about the only thing that could slow this team down this year. Led by three guys averaging at least 14 points per game, the Bears can score a lot of points and they play great defense also.

They are very athletic but are great defenders also. The competition ramps up with Villanova next before a date with Arkansas or Oral Roberts. All of those teams are favorable matchups for the Bears and they have given us no reason to think they won’t be standing when the weekend is over.

1. Gonzaga Bulldogs

They have rarely been tested this year and it continued in the tournament’s first two rounds. Despite a game effort for Oklahoma, the Zags still ran away with the game.

They are deep and they are good. The Zags rarely have an off night and when they do they still win by double-digits. They have only won one game by single digits this year and that is when West Virginia stayed within five.

The Bulldogs just take care of business and there is nobody better. Forget the fact that people want to hate on them for playing in the WCC. This team would have won every conference this year and it will take a herculean effort to beat them in the tournament.

They are looking to be the first team since the 1976 Indiana Hoosiers to go undefeated and right now it doesn’t look like there is anyone that can stop them from doing it.
