March Madness 2021: Ranking NCAA Tournament MOP candidates heading into Sweet 16

The 2021 college basketball season is quickly winding down as the NCAA Tournament is entering the March Madness Sweet 16 this week. While there is no such award of NCAA Tournament MOP, the NCAA does name a Final Four MOP and an all-tournament team. Here is a look at the best players through the first two games of the Tourney.

Honorable Mentions

26. Tahj Eaddy, USC: Eaddy is averaging 10.5 points along with 5.0 rebounds, and just 1.0 turnover.

25. Jahvon Quinerly, Alabama: Quinerly is producing 12.5 points, 6.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 turnovers.

24. Jaden Shackelford, Alabama: The freshman point guard is having a strong Tournament with15.5 points, 3.0 3-pointers, 3.5 rebounds as well as 2.5 assists.

23. Jermaine Samuels, Villanova: Samuels has been solid for the Wildcats, compiling 13 points along with 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 dimes.

22. Roman Silva, Oregon State: The 7-1 center has been a human eraser with seven blocks through two games. Silva is also averaging 11.5 points, and 8.0 rebounds, including 3 offensive caroms, while shooting 75% from the field.

21. Ethan Thompson, Oregon State: Thompson recorded a double-double against Tennessee and is averaging 19.5 points along with 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists. He is also 17 of 18 from the charity stripe.

20. Corey Kispert, Gonzaga: Kispert is averaging 19.5 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 55.1% (16-29) from the field and 50% (3-6) from the 3-point line.

19. Isaiah Mobley, USC: Mobley is having a spectacular Tournament despite being in younger brother, Evan’s shadow, averaging 16 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 blocks.

18. Eli Brooks, Michigan: Brooks has been exceptional for the shorthanded Wolverines producing16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.0 turnover, and 1.0 steal.

17. Anthony Polite, Florida State: Polite is compiling 17.0 points 2.0 3-pointers, 3.5 rebounds,  and 3.0 assists.

16. Max Abmas, Oral Roberts: The 6-1 guard has shown tremendous range and has been pretty clutch. Abmas is averaging 27.5 points along with 4.5 3-pointers, 3.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and 3.0 turnovers. He has made 9 of 21 (41.2%) 3-pointers from beyond the arc.
