Michigan Basketball: 3 keys for Wolverines to make Final Four over UCLA
By Adam Childs
2. Attack the Bruins defense
UCLA has seen big and athletic teams in the PAC 12, but they haven’t played a team like Michigan yet. Alabama was close, but they didn’t have a dominant big man like the Wolverines do in Hunter Dickinson.
Michigan went after Florida State in their last game and ran their offense to perfection. They got the ball inside and used cuts and great passing to get a ton of points inside the paint. They should be able to do the same thing against UCLA.
The Bruins don’t have nearly the same height as the Seminoles and aren’t nearly as good defensively. They did a good job slowing Alabama, but again they didn’t have the big man to run their offense through.
They need to attack the Bruins down low and then hit their outside shots. UCLA will undoubtedly try and double DIcksinon like most teams have, but if they can cut and get open as they did against Florida State it won’t matter.
UCLA is not a horrible defensive team, but they aren’t great either. Michigan has had a field day with these types of teams this year, but they did it by attacking them. If they go after them, they should be able to get the points they need to win this game.
