LSU Tigers

While it seems unlikely, this would be a very interesting destination for Burnett to land at.

It seems inevitable that LSU will lose at least two of their “Big 4,” with most likely star freshman Cameron Thomas and Trendon Watford moving on to the NBA. While the other two members of that group Ja’Vonte Smart and Darius Days could return to LSU for their senior seasons, that remains to be seen.

Assuming if all four of them choose to go to the NBA, LSU as currently constructed will go into next season with only one guard with significant experience from this past season to rely on. That player is freshman Eric Gaines who only averaged 2.5 PPG in 29 games this season.

Potentially adding Burnett would be huge for LSU next season. If members of LSU’s big 4 return, Burnett would most likely slide into the starting lineup alongside Smart giving LSU one of the best starting lineups in college basketball. If all four go to the NBA, it would be vital for the Tigers to add a player of Burnett’s caliber to a seemingly unclear roster next season.

Even though it is highly unlikely that everything occurs, what LSU could have if all four returned alongside adding Burnett would be special and would make the Tigers a favorite in the SEC.
