Breaking down the 7 options for Texas Tech transfer guard Nimari Burnett

Vanderbilt Commodores
While it may be unlikely that Burnett would choose Vanderbilt, we’ve seen what the Commodores have done with guards in previous years.
Vanderbilt, while not having a winning season since the 2016-2017 season, have had their fair share of star guards in recent years, and has shown the ability to put players in the NBA. A few notable examples of this are Darius Garland, Saben Lee, and the potential newest member of that group Scotty Pippen Jr.
Scotty Pippen Jr could be the player that could lure Burnett to Vanderbilt. Pippen averaged 20.8 PPG for the Commodores in 2020 while also becoming one of the top guards in the SEC. While Pippen could go to the NBA, the star guard could opt to return to Vanderbilt next season.
If Pippen returns and Nimari Burnett lands in Nashville, that would give Vanderbilt arguably one of the best backcourts in the country. If Pippen turns pro, however, Burnett could take over as the next star guard for the Commodores.
While it is currently unknown where Burnett will choose, whoever lands the former 5-star will be getting a very versatile playmaker and one of the top available transfers talent-wise of the offseason. Alabama, Illinois, and Oregon should be considered the favorites, but don’t be surprised if Nimari Burnett shocks us all with his upcoming decision. If I had to guess where Burnett ends up, it’ll be in Tuscaloosa to add to what will be a loaded Alabama backcourt next season.
