Davidson graduate transfer Kellan Grady is choosing Kentucky Basketball in his final year of eligibility.

The 6-foot-5 guard is a two-time first-team All-Atlantic 10 member who averaged 17.1 points and 4.6 rebounds last season. His four-year career averages are 17.4 ppg and 2.2 apg, while never having a season scoring less than 17.0 ppg.

With his hopes to play professionally in the NBA, Grady entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal seeking an opportunity for a bigger program. He would emerge as a favorite for the Wildcats among several other talented programs.

Although Grady will be playing for the Wildcats again next season, he will be joining Coach Calipari this time in Kentucky. “I’m very excited to be a Wildcat again and play for Coach Calipari at the University of Kentucky. I’m grateful for the opportunity and eager to get to work,” he said.

The University of Kentucky and Coach Cal have developed some of the NBA’s best players in today’s game including, Tyler Herro, Anthony Davis, Devin Booker, and John Wall. The program is hoping that Grady will be next to be on that list.

The Wildcats are coming off a poor performing season and are looking for a spark going into the 2021-22 season.

Kentucky would go on to miss the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2013 this season. The last time Kentucky missed the tournament, they finished with a 21-12 record and 12-6 in the SEC. This season they finished with a 9-16 record and 8-9 in conference play.

Coach Cal and the Wildcats have some more rebuilding work to accomplish over this offseason. Although they are losing three freshmen to the NBA Draft, they will be bringing in three ESPN 100 top recruits. They have also recruited West Virginia transfer Oscar Tshiebwe.

It will be interesting to see if the Wildcats can bounce back next season as they hope to take over the SEC Conference once again.
