Arizona Basketball: 6 candidates to replace Sean Miller as head coach
By Joey Loose
Jason Terry
Our list wouldn’t feel entirely complete without considering someone from the current Arizona staff. Not only is Terry yet another former Arizona star, but he’s relatively fresh to the school and was not involved with the allegations that Miller faced in his last few seasons.
A native of Seattle, Terry played his college ball at Arizona and was a member of that 1997 national championship team. He was a first round NBA draft pick and played 19 seasons in the NBA. He’s an NBA champion and former Sixth Man of the Year and has also spent time in the front office of a G-League team. His only coaching experience to date has come on Miller’s staff this past year.
The obvious issue is Terry’s lack of coaching experience, though at least he’s already familiar with the current roster and the state of the program. He would be an extremely raw candidate, but programs throughout the nation have been hiring inexperienced NBA guys with mixed levels of success. The bottom line is that Terry is a former hero for this program and these Wildcats could use a hero to fix the problems that Miller left behind.
After closely looking at six candidates to replace Sean Miller at Arizona, we’re left waiting to see what will happen; but who do you think will be the next head coach of these Wildcats?
