Baylor Bears

It’s not official yet but it’s widely expected that star guards Davion Mitchell and Jared Butler will be off to the NBA Draft as projected first-rounders. The duo combined to average 10.3 apg last season and provided over 90% of the team’s passing stats. After missing out on Xavier Johnson to Indiana and no proven ball-handler on the roster, Baylor should be aggressively targeting Pickett.

And I’m not worried about a mid-major transfer fitting in with the Bears’ system. MaCio Teague came from UNC Asheville and is an All-Big 12 contributor, while Adam Flager was a dynamic scorer from Presbyterian that had great success as a 6th man this past season. There’s no reason why a star from Siena can’t do the same thing.

Duke Blue Devils

The Blue Devils have a trio of incoming five-star prospects (Trevor Keels, AJ Griffin, and Paolo Banchero), along with rising sophomore center Mark Williams as key pieces on next season’s roster. They also have Jeremy Roach, a former top-20 guard that averaged 8.7 ppg and 2.8 apg as a sophomore and 6th man. He was second on the team in assists, to Jordan Goldwire, who transferred out this offseason.

Right now, Roach is the projected starting point guard but is he a true facilitator of an offense? Duke would be better off landing a proven point guard and allow Roach to play off-ball, while also being the backup PG in given rotations. Pickett has always wanted to be on the biggest stage and there is none bigger than at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
