NC State Wolfpack

With Devon Daniels likely gone and Braxton Beverly having transferred out, that leaves just rising sophomore guard Cam Hayes as the key ball-handler, with fellow underclassmen Shakeel Moore around as backup. Coach Kevin Keatts tends to prefer having lineups featuring multiple ball-handlers on the court, and he’s already been targeting point guards in the portal this offseason.

Hayes is a future All-ACC player but NC State would likely want to have a veteran guard in the rotation for consistency and stability purposes. This has been a program that has been transfer heavy in the past and they already landed Providence wing Greg Gantt Jr. Now they’ll hope to land a quality perimeter player as well to get back to the NCAA Tournament.

Oregon Ducks

If none of the current seniors opt to come back, Oregon will have just eight scholarship players on the roster for next season, due to multiple transfers leaving. One of them was Jalen Terry, a former top-60 prospect and supposed to have been the future lead guard for the Ducks. That leaves them with just Will Richardson and backup Aaron Estrada.

Richardson led the team with 3.9 apg but arguably is better playing off-ball. And based on the current perimeter structure on the roster, he may have to slide over. Pickett would be perfect to place in as the starting point guard and he and Richardson would work well with each other. Oregon has been another transfer-happy program and with its frontcourt in solid shape, will look to target every power conference-level perimeter talent currently in the portal.
