Cincinnati Basketball: 5 candidates to replace John Brannen as head coach
By Joey Loose
Archie Miller
Experienced head coaches aren’t easy to come by, especially to clean up a mess like that at Cincinnati. However, there are a fair few bouncing around out there that would be pretty solid fits for the Bearcats, and Miller certainly fits the bill.
Miller’s coaching career has taken him around the country, starting as an assistant at Western Kentucky nearly two decades ago. He’s worked under coaches like Thad Matta (at Ohio State) and Herb Sendek, while also leading nearby Dayton to great success during four seasons, including an Elite Eight run. Miller spent the last four years at Indiana, but couldn’t get things done for the Hoosiers, failing to live up to the expectations.
Even though Miller struggled at Indiana, his success at Dayton shows that he’s still a pretty good coach. His familiarity with Ohio would certainly make him an attractive candidate for the Bearcats. Since he was fired at Indiana, Miller is currently without a job and would likely jump at an opportunity with a solid program like Cincinnati. If he can get things rolling with the Bearcats, this program can be just as successful as recently under Mick Cronin.
