6. Abilene Christian upsets Texas

Shaka Smart had Texas playing well coming into the NCAA tournament. They had run through the Big 12 tournament and looked poised to make a run. Instead, everything came crashing down and their season ended in a thud.

Abilene Christian was known as a great defensive team, but no one could have seen this coming. In what might have been the ugliest game in the tournament, it couldn’t have looked any better for ACU.

The Wildcats held the bigger and stronger Longhorns to just 52 and forced them into 23 turnovers. It was exactly what they wanted to do. They frustrated them all game long and did just enough to pull off the huge upset.

After a three-pointer with 16 seconds left put the Longhorns up one, Joe Pleasant drove the lane and got fouled with two seconds left. Pleasant calmly went to the line and nailed both free throws to put the Wildcats ahead and after a desperation shot came up empty a huge upset.
