3. Juzang catches fire
Johnny Juzang transferred from Kentucky to UCLA in hopes for a bigger role and a fresh start. Well, he got both of them and in turn, led the Bruins to the Final Four. An improbable run after having to play in the first four games wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for Juzang.
He was a scoring machine, but he shined when the spotlight was on him the most. In their Elite Eight game against heavily favored Michigan, Juzang took over.
The Bruins were struggling to score, having just four points ten minutes into the game, Juzang came to the rescue. He got hot at the right time and would proceed to score 28 of the Bruins 51 points for the game.
In a game that was dominated by defense, Juzang shined and the Bruins needed every bit of it. The Wolverines largely had no answer and it was the difference in the game.
His hot streak continued in the Final Four when he scored 29 points in their near upset of top-seeded Gonzaga. Juzang did everything he could to pull off the upset but came up just short when Jalen Suggs hit a half-court shot to send the Bulldogs to the championship game.
Even with the loss, Juzang had one of the most memorable postseason runs and helped UCLA become just the third 11 seed to ever make the Final Four.
