Mac McClung, Adam Miller among top 20 new available NCAA Basketball transfers
6. C Garrison Brooks – North Carolina Tar Heels
2020-21 stats: 10.2 ppg and 6.9 rpg
As a junior, Brooks averaged 16.8 ppg and 8.5 rpg as an All-ACC player. This past season, the 6’11 big man saw his numbers and effectiveness decrease, in part due to the amount of frontcourt depth for the Tar Heels.
He may not average 17 and 9 at his next stop but if Brooks can go back to being the focal point of an offense, he can get back to being all-conference caliber next season. Including the first article concerning transfers, there aren’t many big men that can score in the low post like Brooks can, which will make his coveted, even if the junior season was a fluke.
5. G Jalen Pickett – Siena Saints
2020-21 stats: 12.9 ppg, 6.3 rpg, and 4.8 apg
Few players in NCAA Basketball have stuffed the stat sheets in the past few years as Pickett has, coming close to getting a triple-double at least 10 times throughout his college career, surprisingly not getting one. The 6’4 starting point guard won MAAC Player of the Year as a sophomore and actually had even better stats as a freshman, going for 15.8 ppg and 6.7 apg.
Pickett is a pure point guard that can shoot and score at an efficient level. He doesn’t have many weaknesses and his overall game translates well to the power conference level. That’s why several big names have already made contact, even though Pickett has been in the portal for just a few days.
