BYU Cougars

There were rumblings last season about the interest from BYU and this is an option that could fit McClung well. He’d certainly have a lot of freedom and would have the ability to continue to be the volume scorer that he’s been. With two senior guards, there’s a big question mark in the backcourt for the Cougars moving forward.

Given the past connections, it would not come as a surprise for Mark Pope to at least enquire about McClung and his future. BYU was included on his list of seven schools last season and many thought that may be his final destination before settling on Texas Tech.

Virginia Cavaliers

Virginia looks dangerous next season and while McClung doesn’t fit the typical mold for a Virginia guard it’s still an interesting thought. Virginia didn’t have any prolific scorers outside of Hauser but with the recent addition of Jayden Gardner, the upside of Virginia gets a lot better.

McClung definitely isn’t known for his defense but it should be noted that he was much improved on that side of the ball this past season. If anyone can help with the defense and get him to the next level it very well could be Tony Bennett. As a Virginia native, you can’t quite rule out the Cavaliers.
