Breaking down the 3 finalists for 5-star forward prospect Michael Foster

NBA G-League
Arguably the route that most people expect Foster to take, the NBA G-League could pick up its first big addition for next season later this week.
The NBA G-League has always been the “minor-leagues” as you’d say for the NBA but was recently turned last season into a potential other route for top high school prospects that can’t go straight from high school to the NBA. This offers an opportunity for top prospects that don’t want to spend a year in college to play professionally without going overseas, as well as getting paid a year earlier to play in the G-League for a season.
There were four notable highly-rated 5-star high school prospects a year ago who became the first players to go the G-League route. These four players joined the inaugural NBA G-League Ignite team for the 2020 G-League season where they played only 15 games.
While was certainly a success for a few players, it was not as much for a few others. Top 5 players in the Class of 2020 Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga both starred, while other 5-stars Daishen Nix and Isaiah Todd didn’t necessarily get the same amount of exposure. These players certainly flashed their talents and abilities against professional competition, but only appeared in a limited number of games, less than half of a full college basketball season.
If the G-League wants to continue to grow, adding a player the caliber of Foster would make games must-see. Foster could certainly choose to play next season in the G-League and would be given an opportunity to develop his game for a year against professional talent.
Foster could very well choose to play professionally in the G-League, but if he does decide to play college basketball, he would be a massive pickup for either Florida State or Georgia. One thing is a guarantee, however, Michael Foster will be must-see and one of the top players talent-wise wherever he decides to play next season.
