Davion Mitchell, Chris Duarte rises in latest 2021 NBA Draft Big Board
10. SO Franz Wagner – Michigan Wolverines
Wagner was a super important player on a Michigan team that earned a one seed this year. The Sophomore out of Germany averaged 12.5 points,6.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. At 6’9 Wagner is a really smart player who does a good job off-ball defensively, makes the right passing reads, and is a good cutter.
It is really useful to have a guy who can guard multiple possessions and can handle the ball at 6’9. As he moves to the next level he needs to improve his three-point shot. He shot 34.3 percent from three and it would help him to shoot in the mid-’30s at the next level.
11. SR Corey Kispert – Gonzaga Bulldogs
I’ve written about Kispert a bunch it seems but he’s had a great year. The first team All-American averaged 18.6 points along with 5.0 rebounds per game and shot 52.9%/44.0/87.8 line from the field. Sam Vecenie from the Athletic called him the best shooter in College Basketball this season. Kispert is known as a great character kid and someone with a high IQ. He’s been compared to Joe Harris and should have a very similar role at the next level.
Not only is Kispert a great shooter, but he’s also a solid cutter and improved his ability to put the ball on the deck. He’s gotta get quicker defensively, I think he’s ok on defense because he’s always in the right spot on the ball. But in the Final Four, he struggled to guard Johhny Juzang and Baylor’s guards in the National Championship game.
Kispert is a smart player who should walk in the league and shoot 40 percent from three and should be a lottery pick that’s in the league for a long time.
12. Alperen Sengun – Turkey
I all in on Sengun, he’s had some recent buzz due to his protection in the Turkish League. He is currently averaging 19.4 points 9.4 rebounds and 2.5 assist on 63.8 percent from the field. Sengun is also averaging over a block and steal per game. He does a tremendous job-stealing position and is a very good finisher around the rim. Sengun has also shown the ability to score out of the pick and roll and is a willing passer. His three-point shot needs to improve at the next level.
Currently, he’s only 4-21 this season from three but judging by his form and how he’s an 81.2 percent free-throw shooter there is some promise there. He’s also got to improve defensively, he’s not gonna be a switch defender at the next level.
Sengun is strictly a center and there are some concerns because of his size he will struggle to be effective at the NBA level since he will have to play drop coverage. Anyways, Sengun is so productive and such a unique player that he will find a way to be productive at the next level.
