6 teams that should target top-30 NCAA Basketball prospect Nolan Hickman
While the 2021 NCAA Basketball recruiting classes have all but been wrapped up, there are still a few top-tier prospects remaining without a team. One of them just became a free agent in Nolan Hickman, who recently de-committed from the Kentucky Wildcats a week ago.
There were several factors that were going on as to why the partnership between Hickman and the Wildcats ultimately collapsed. The player, who originally comes from the Seattle area has expressed a desire to possibly play closer out west. There also were a pair of key assistants that left the program, including Tony Barbee, a key recruiter for Hickman that recently accepted the head coaching job at Central Michigan University.
Then there was the roster overhaul, including at the point guard position. Hickman, a 6’2 pure ball-handler, had to have seen the numerous transfer guards that were reportedly linked to the Wildcats. The overall uncertainty seemed to make it untenable for the two sides to remain together, making Hickman, along with friend and fellow top-30 guard TyTy Washington the top available freshman guards in the market.
There hasn’t been a confirmed list of newcomers looking to target the point guard but there are some teams that have either past connections or current connections to Hickman, based on players on those respected rosters.
Based on what’s been said so far, here’s a look at six programs that should and probably will target Hickman in the coming week. Will there be a clear fit for the guard?
