Arkansas Razorbacks

As expected, the Razorbacks coaching staff has been busy this offseason, landing several key transfers. That includes point guard Chris Lykes, combo forward Au’Diese Toney, and shooting guard Stanley Umude, who averaged over 21 ppg this past season at South Dakota. That doesn’t even include the return of SEC 6th Man of the Year JD Notae or rising sophomore point guards, KK Robinson and Davonte Davis.

Although it’s not a guarantee that Umude will play well at the SEC level but even so, he can play on the wing while Toney is slotted at the four-spot. Brockington could replace Notae as the first player off the bench and play multiple positions in what could look like a positionless lineup. There would be minutes available but not a for sure thing compared to the other three options.

BYU Cougars

For the sake of this piece, I’ll operate that the rumors are true that both Alex Barcello and Matt Haarms are back for another season. What we know for sure is that starting two-guard Brandon Averette is gone after signing a pro deal. That leaves a wide-open spot for Brockington to slide on in and be an ideal partner for the sharpshooting Barcello in the backcourt.

From a basketball standpoint, this makes near-perfect sense for Brockington. He’s an upgrade from Averette and is five inches taller as well. The question will be whether he wants to go back to the mid-major level and have a tough time getting an at-large bid, considering the juggernaut Gonzaga Bulldogs is also in the WCC.
