Top 10 potential NCAA Basketball options for Arizona State transfer Remy Martin
BYU Cougars
It may be a stretch for Martin to bypass the NBA Draft and go down to the WCC for a team not named Gonzaga but head coach Mark Pope does have his connections in Arizona, including landing and developing former Arizona guard Alex Barcello into an All-WCC player this past season. The team nearly landed Mac McClung from Georgetown over a year ago and has been looking for a quality guard this offseason.
With Brandon Averette gone and potentially Barcello too, Martin can come in and have the keys to the offense all to himself for the Cougars’ offense. He’d also get to play in front of a big fan base in Provo and be able to put up monster numbers in the WCC. And, a pair of games against Gonzaga on a national stage.
Colorado Buffaloes
All-time program elite point guard McKinley Wright IV has finally moved on, leaving the team without a clear-cut starting point guard for next season. Martin has familiarity with the fellow Pac-12 program in the Buffaloes and could easily slide in next to Western Carolina transfer Mason Faulkner in the starting backcourt.
The issue with this scenario is that even with Faulkner, Colorado will be rebuilding a bit and their odds of making the NCAA Tournament aren’t very high. Compared to some of the other options on the list, the Buffs would have a hard time hypothetically winning this recruiting battle out.
