LSU Tigers

Even after landing five-star center Efton Reid, the Tigers could still use some proven offensive talent in the frontcourt for next season. The team has already landed key guard transfers Xavier Pinson and Adam Miller and Cincy forward Tari Eason. But Mitchell could be the missing piece and as I said with Georgia, would be playing in the SEC against some other great bigs that can improve his profile.

The question here would be whether or not both Mitchell and Reid can play and defend together on the court. Both can do so with a more natural forward in Eason but that could mean Mitchell’s playing time could be a little limited compared to the other five options. And considering how many players on the roster who’ll like to have the ball, Mitchell’s numbers and impact may take a little dip too.

Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns and first-year head coach Chris Beard have already landed four transfers this offseason, including forwards Christian Bishop from Creighton and Dylan Disu from Vanderbilt. There’s still not much depth at all outside of those two so it makes sense for the team to try and land another piece, one with the offensive talent of Mitchell that would make them preseason contenders to win the Big 12.

Mitchell would certainly be a starter and a key piece but including another transfer in Timmy Allen and returning guards Matt Coleman, Andrew Jones, and Jase Febres, there’s a lot of offensive production that’ll have to get sorted out.

It’s also important that Coach Beard’s previous teams have been guard-dominant, with the offense flowing through them first. Could this system actually hurt Mitchell’s overall production at Texas?
