After several key commitments from top-100 NCAA Basketball prospects in the 2021 recruiting class, the attention now starts to turn towards the 2022 group. And with official visits now allowed starting on June 1st, prospects now will be able to physically see where they could be playing. And a top player has already gotten started in Mark Mitchell, a 6’8 forward from Mission, Kansas.

The star of Bishop Miege High School, Mitchell averaged over 18 ppg this past season and has seen his stock rise towards five-star status, ranked in the top-20 overall according to 247sportsComposite. He’s a natural small forward that can operate on the perimeter, capable of scoring everywhere on the court.

Mitchell’s size, athlectism, and scoring ability is perfect for the modern NBA game, as well as NCAA Basketball. And his recruitment has already been going on, with programs such as Kansas and UCLA viewed as the early favorites to land him.

As expected, those teams were able to land visits with Mitchell. According to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, the two other teams that received future visits in the month of June are the Missouri Tigers and Oklahoma State. The Kansas Jayhawks got an unofficial one but that doesn’t mean anything in context to the recruiting battle, as Mitchell can visit at anytime.

Another school that has reportedly entered the fray is the Kentucky Wildcats. That would make it the final six unless more schools decide to get involved. So for now, here’s a look at how Mitchell would fit with each of these options for the 2022-23 season.
