7. Purdue Boilermakers

Projected Starting Five:

G Eric Hunter Jr.
G Jaden Ivey
G Sasha Stefanovic
F Mason Gillis
C Trevion Williams

Talk about a veteran basketball team. Purdue may have had an early exit in March, but a little flame was lit underneath the backsides of Matt Painters bunch. The Boilermakers are returning their top seven guys from last season. A team that finished 4th in arguably the best conference in basketball.

Trevion Williams’s name will be mentioned all over preseason All-American lists. With 15.5 points and 9.1 rebounds last season, Williams was the big bully in a bully-style conference. Purdue’s guards have some work to do though. Outside of Jaden Ivey and Sasha Stefanovic, I don’t really trust any of them to consistently produce for this team.

Hopefully, for Purdue fans, Eric Hunter can take a big step forward and lighten the load on the Purdue big men. Either way, Purdue will be one of the most physical and forceful teams in the country next season.

6. Arkansas Razorbacks

Projected Starting Five:

G Chris Lykes
G Davonte Davis
G Stanley Umude
F Au’Diese Toney
C Jaylin Williams

The Muss Bus does it again. The king of the transfer portal continues to dominate the college basketball offseason. The Razorbacks will be going into next season with a brand new starting five in which four of them weren’t at the program last year.

Chris Lykes transfers over from Miami (FL), the 5’7 guard averaged 15.5 points and 5.5 assists in limited action last season. Lykes is a sensational three-point shooter and finishes well around the rim for his size. Stanley Umude comes over from South Dakota where he averaged over 20 points and seven boards. With four years of college hoops experience, he should have no problem adjusting to the higher level of competition.

Pitt transfer Au’Diese Toney is another sparkplug type of scorer and will be a dark horse to be the Hogs best player next season. Guard Davonte Davis is back (yes not a transfer) is a super athletic wing that could develop into an all-conference caliber player.

With not a lot of built-up chemistry, the Hogs could be in for a sketchy start down in Fayetteville. However, this team is too talented to not be in the discussion for one of the best five teams in the country.
