Kansas Jayhawks

After missing out on a few point guards in the past week, the Jayhawks were able to snag a huge fish in Arizona State transfer Remy Martin. He’ll be around for only a year though, along with 7th-year grad transfer guard Jalen Coleman-Lands. While Drake transfer Joseph Yesufu, three-star commit Bobby Pettiford Jr. and sophomore Dajuan Harris will be around for depth, Kansas likely will be looking for a starting point guard a year from now too.

Griggs is the top point guard option for the Jayhawks in the 2022 class and they have a history of landing top prospects in the state of Texas. But with the ascension of programs such as Baylor and Houston along with the other local Big 12 programs, it certainly has gotten harder. And with possible future sanctions still up in the air, a one-and-done prospect such as Griggs may simply opt to stay in-state and guarantee a shot at the Big Dance.

LSU Tigers

After recently landing big man Efton Reid, the Tigers are hoping to double their luck with five-star prospects. After losing key guards Javonte Smart and Cameron Thomas, the team was able to land transfers Xavier Pinson (Missouri) and Adam Miller (Illinois). Pinson will only be around for one season while Miller still can be around for a few more years.

The best-case scenario for LSU would be to land Griggs and have him start in 2022-23 as Pinson’s replacement, sliding Miller over to his more natural shooting guard position. It would be a great fit and the Tigers’ offense would allow Griggs to produce a ton as the lead guard while playing in the SEC and potentially elevating his draft stock. If playing time security matters, LSU could be a darkhorse to get him out of the state.
