NCAA Basketball: Ranking 5-star Jalen Duren’s options in case he reclassifies
4. Alabama Crimson Tide
The Tide has emerged as one of the top options for recruits who wants to play in fast-paced offenses and have a loaded backcourt, including incoming five-star guard JD Davison. They do have a five-star big man in Charles Bediako but the injury to James Rojas leaves them with some depth concerns.
Duren would solve those issues and with the great backcourt Alabama has, would almost never get double-teamed in the post in SEC games. And if he dominates in that league, he could definitely end up as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
3. Memphis Tigers
Head coach Penny Hardaway has had a five-star center each season so far at Memphis but that could change if they don’t get Duren. Moussa Cisse transferred out this offseason, leaving Malcolm Dandridge and 6’9 forward Deandre Williams left to potentially play at the five-spot.
Coach Hardaway dones have a good track record with big men, including former AAC Player of the Year Precious Achiwua dominating the conference. Duren can definitely do the same and be the top offensive option with the Tigers, something not many other teams on this list can say coming into next season.
