NCAA Basketball: Top 10 impact head coaching hires from 2009 offseason

Take yourselves back to the year 2009. With studs like Tyler Hansbrough and Ty Lawson in a starring role, Roy Williams led North Carolina to another NCAA Basketball national championship, this time topping Michigan State in the final. The All-American team included some future NBA studs in Stephen Curry, Blake Griffin, and James Harden.
As another thrilling season came to an end, the time came for change to be made at several of the basketball programs around the country. Some failed to meet expectations, leading to a great number of head coaching changes throughout the offseason. Whether through poor play or retirement, there were several programs looking for head coaches, some as prominent as Arizona and Kentucky, while openings at schools like Alabama, USC, and Virginia also garnered intrigue.
Whether a talented Blue Blood or a struggling low major problem, it’s important to nail your search for a new head coach, in any situation. With that in mind, we’ll be looking back at those hires made in the 2009 offseason. Our focus will be on the ten best, meaning that not all the good coaches will be shown off in this article. Even in the college basketball world, time can really fly by, and it’s crazy to consider that some of these hires were already a dozen years ago.
