NCAA Basketball: Ranking the 10 matchups for 2022 Big 12 vs SEC Challenge
By Andrew Tineo
4. Kentucky at Kansas
Battle of the Bluebloods
What seems like a broken record, Kansas and Kentucky will play one another in the non-conference slate. Both conferences have set up, where each team plays one another every other season. One season Kentucky gets Texas, while Kansas will end up playing Tennessee.
Kentucky’s roster is not the normal Wildcat formula, as Calipari was extremely active in the transfer portal. Calipari got his fair share of elite recruits, with five-star guard TyTy Washington and five-star forward Daimion Collins.
However, the Wildcats landed three humongous guards out of the portal, led by the guard duo of Sahvir Wheeler and CJ Frederick.
Oscar Tshiebwe transferred during the season, he has been within the program for almost seven months to this point.
Like the majority of teams in the country, Kansas did their fair share of portal work, led by Arizona State guard Remy Martin.
On paper, this is probably a top-two matchup. However, this matchup has been played so often, the steam and hype of these two teams playing have started to lose its steam.
This will be the fourth time they have played in the challenge and Kansas has won two of the first three meetings.
