Kentucky Basketball: Keion Brooks, Jr. living out a basketball dream
Keion still has things he wants to accomplish with the Wildcats
Like most players at his level, Keion does take some time to unwind when the season ends, but like most hardworking gym rats, it’s not as long as one would think. He told me it’s always good to decompress, but it doesn’t take him long to get the itch to dribble a ball again, usually a week to 10 days.
About to begin his third campaign, the frontcourt mainstay of Kentucky has goals he still wants to achieve before his college career comes to an end. He said, “My biggest goal is to win a lot of games and help lead my new teammates, help them figure out what this college process is like, and making a deep run in the tournament. We have a very talented team, a mix of young players and veterans, I think we should be really good.”
In a change from year’s past Kentucky will welcome four high-level transfers to Lexington for 2021-22. Joining Keion will be Kellan Grady (Davidson), CJ Frederick (Iowa), Sahvir Wheeler (Georgia), and Oscar Tshiebwe (West Virginia).
He’s right, the Wildcats should be really good and Keion Brooks, Jr. will be a big reason why, as this kid from humble beginnings continues to live out a childhood dream on the sport’s biggest stages.
