One of the most fascinating players to watch in NCAA Basketball is Tyrece Radford of Virginia Tech. In two seasons, he averaged 10.9 ppg and 6.1 rpg, on 58% shooting from the field overall and just 22% from three-point range. He led the Hokies in rebounding and field goal shooting as well.

You would think that by those raw numbers, Radford would be a power forward or even a center. Instead, he’s listed as a guard at 6’2 and 200 pounds. Pound for pound, Radford is one of the toughest players in NCAA Basketball and has an eye for the ball in the paint. He’s the equivalent of current Milwaukee Bucks PJ Tucker, who despite being 6’5 has played the power forward/center for most of his career.

Radford plays a similar way, as he’s truly capable of playing and guarding four positions on the court. He’s also a solid offensive player despite being limited from deep, scoring 20+ points on three different occasions last season and ending the 2020-21 campaign with eight straight double-digit scoring games.

Radford has a “glue guy” mentality while also capable of scoring in double figures on a nightly basis. And since he’s not a high-usage player, the 6’2 guard/wing can have a major impact on his next team and add a few wins.

Even though it’s late in the offseason as we enter July 1st, there are plenty of high major teams that could use Radford’s services. Here are eight programs to potentially keep an eye on in the coming days in the new recruitment.
