NCAA Basketball: 8 teams that should target Oral Roberts transfer Kevin Obanor

Oklahoma State Cowboys

The Cowboys were excellent from the perimeter last season and despite losing Yor Anei in the offseason prior, were a good rebounding team and got solid production from underclassmen forwards Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe and Kalib Boone. But it’s important to note that the top two rebounders from last season were Cade Cunningham and Isaac Likelele, with the star freshman now gone and Likelele now with more facilitating responsibilities going forward.

Adding Obanor solves a number of production issues in terms of rebounding and scoring from the inside. Neither Moncrieffe nor Boone spreads the floor so having the Oral Roberts transfer with either one of them would improve the offense overall. With Obanor on board along with Avery Anderson, shooting wouldn’t be an issue with this team at all.

SMU Mustangs

The Mustangs have brought in a ton of transfers this offseason, including Southland Player of the Year guard Zach Nutall, brothers Marcus and Michael Weathers, and Tristan Clark, a forward from Baylor who missed last season due to continuing knee issues.

It’s hard to determine how big a role Clark will have next season and the frontcourt players currently on SMU’s roster are relatively small and unproven at the power conference level. Obanor is in the same position but at least he adds offense for a team that lost so much this offseason and he’s a good bet to be a focal point of the offense, whereas in other possible destinations he may be relegated to a 4th or 5th option.
