NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 10 options for top-100 Cam Whitmore
Another prospect in the 2022 NCAA Basketball recruiting class in the DMV area is one step closer to making a decision. This time it’s Cam Whitmore, a consensus top-100 overall and four-star small forward prospect from Severn, Maryland. 247sportsComposite has him ranked just outside of the top-50, while the recruiting site itself has him as high as No. 30 overall.
Whitmore has looked every bit of a top-50 prospect in the past year. In his junior season at Archbishop Spalding High School, the 6’6 forward averaged 22.0 ppg and nearly 12 rebounds a game, while also recently putting up some big performances in the Live-Action Period in front of scouts and coaches.
The wing is an incredibly talented scorer, capable of driving to the basket, mid-range, and shooting it from three-point range consistently. Whitmore is definitely a high major athlete that in the right situation, can become an all-conference player and eventual NBA Draft prospect.
A number of programs from out east and in the midwest have been after Whitmore for a while, with both Pittsburgh and Penn State getting official visits since the start of June. Unfortunately for the Panthers, they didn’t make the cut of 10, while the Nittany Lions did.
We’re now down to 10 power conference programs for Whitmore’s services, all of whom have something different to offer. Which of them is the best overall fit? Here’s a closer look at the pros and cons of each situation.
